The painted illustrations in the 1985 UK
Masters of the Universe Annual were always impressive and extremely atmospheric in places. Take this image from the end of the story
"The Tale of Man-E-Faces"; here we see
He-Man and
Teela at the bedside of
Man-E-Faces, having just rescued him from
Skeletor. The style of these paintings always reminded me of the earliest interpretations of
Masters of the Universe. The mood of this piece is obvious, emphasized by the minimalist background...

teela looked rad
Out of all the Teela designs, this is actually my favorite - mainly because of the hair. I can't stand Filmation Teela's hair and the ponytail from MYP was too long . . . but this one is perfect!
Love the shadow effects!
Beautiful rendition of Teela ... Here, we see the motherly, tender side of the Captain of the Guard. :)
Thanks for posting and reading! God Bless...

Love this picture because it reminds me of a story arc in the Turtles comics you'd get in the daily newspaper based on a scene from the movie where Raphael kept a bedside vigil over Leonardo. Cracks me up that Man-E-Faces is in bed with that monstrosity of a helmet though! Haha!
The use of colors and lighting in this pic is fantastic. But I hate how they made He-Man's armor. The symbol is way too small.
